The challenge was organizing multiple student thesis projects into a clear, cohesive catalog without overwhelming the reader.

I designed a structured, editorial layout using strong typography and consistent spacing to create a clean, easy-to-navigate catalog.

The SUNY New Paltz Graphic Design Thesis Publication is an annual catalog showcasing the work of graduating students. The objective was to create a cohesive publication that highlighted each student's work while maintaining a consistent visual identity and an engaging reading experience throughout the book.

Working alongside fellow designer Madelyn Ma, we divided the publication into separate sections while following a shared grid system and design standards. My responsibility was to design my assigned pages using consistent typography, spacing, and visual hierarchy, ensuring the publication felt unified from beginning to end despite being created collaboratively.

This project strengthened my editorial design skills by reinforcing the importance of consistency, organization, and collaboration. Designing within an established grid system required careful attention to typography, spacing, and alignment while allowing each student's work to retain its own identity.

The finished publication presents the graduating class's work through a clean editorial system that balances consistency with flexibility. Collaborating on a large-scale publication reinforced the value of communication, shared design standards, and thoughtful layout decisions when working as part of a creative team.
